Rodney Bay, St. Lucia

Yesterday we set sail at 06:30 and headed north. We encountered 3+ meter waves and head winds of up to 24 kn true (apparent wind of 32 kn). So again we had the wind partly on the nose, reefed all day in and out and ended up tacking many times and had waves rolling over the decks.

But it was a  relative fast passage of speed between 5 to 10.3 kn. We sailed a total of about 82 NM and in 12 hours. Thus, we arrived in Rodney Bay at 18:30 and it was dark when we dropped the anchor. However, that is not a big problem as we know Rodney Bay well from many earlier visits and the Bay is large and well protected. It is nice to be back here.

We will only have a brief stay as Sunday we will head for Le Marin, Martinique as our VHF Black Box should have arrived from Simrad, Denmark and we need to install it as well as get spare parts for the gas installation and the Generator, etc.....

Today was spend shopping at the Johnson hardware store and Island Water World chandler and after lunch at the Marina we went back to New Dawn and Chris got me up in the mast for an hour replacing the front deck light and fixing the Si-Tex radar, which did not like the shaking it received yesterday and needed new fixing points and bolts. So much for a day in the office.
